Co-founder
Chris Wilson PT, DScPT, DPT is an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education in the Physical Therapy Program at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and was the founding Residency Program Director for the Beaumont Health Oncology Residency, the first accredited residency program for physical therapists in the United States. His clinical focus is Acute Care Oncology and Palliative Care. He has published the book entitled Physical Activity and Rehabilitation in Life Threatening Illness by Routledge in 2021 and is the co-editor of the forthcoming textbook entitled Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians to be released by Elsevier in Fall 2022. He has published over 35 full-length peer reviewed articles and many invited publications. Chris is the President-Elect of the Academy of Oncologic Physical Therapy and he was previously the Academy’s Vice President and as the global coordinator of the Hospice/Palliative Care subgroup for World Physiotherapy’s International HIV, Oncology, Palliative care (IPT-HOPE) subgroup. Chris was the primary author and sponsor of the APTA’s positions on hospice/palliative care, diet and nutrition, and medical necessity in the presence of declining conditions.

Ann Henshaw, OTD, MPH, MBA, OTR/L is an occupational therapy practitioner and an experienced collaborator who seeks to integrate rehabilitation services to enhance quality of care and quality of life for seriously ill people and their families. Her experience in public health and health care consulting allow her a broad view of the barriers and facilitators to collaborative practice. As part of her doctoral work, she developed the PalRehab Toolkit to share evidence based strategies to promote interprofessional collaborative practice in palliative rehabilitation. Ann works to enhance role clarity, teamwork and communication and ultimately improve care delivery.
Lori Boright PT, DPT, DScPT, CLT is an Assistant Professor at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan where she also serves as the Director of Clinical Education and Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Oncology Rehabilitation. She is a Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialist, credentialed by the University of Northern Colorado Cancer Rehabilitation Institute. She received her DScPT and Graduate Certificate in Oncology Rehabilitation from Oakland University, DPT from AT Still University, MPT from University of Michigan Flint, and BS in physiology from Michigan State University. Her research agenda focuses on investigating US and international standards for entry-level and advanced practice oncology rehabilitation education, and implementing a modular curriculum in the US, South Africa, and parts of Europe to address the increasing need for practitioners to superintend the cancer burden on quality of life.
Dr. Boright currently serves American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Oncology as the Chair of the Hospice and Palliative Care Special Interest Group. She is also the Managing Editor for the APTA Oncology’s new clinically focused publication, Oncology Rehabilitation in Practice.
Dr. Boright serves APTA Michigan as Chair of the Oncology Rehabilitation Special Interest Group, the first state-level oncology rehabilitation special interest group dedicated to advocacy and clinical best practice development for persons with oncology diagnoses. She has published many peer-reviewed publications and is a frequent speaker at the state and national level in the prevention and education domains. She co-edited and authored the textbook entitled: Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians published by Elsevier in October of 2022.
Dr. Boright practices clinically in acute care at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township Michigan.
Kristen Cumming SPT, is a third-year DPT student at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Kristen graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor's in Allied Health Science and a minor in Dance. She also has a strong history of competitive dancing at GVSU. Kristen currently works as Dr. Lori Boright's Graduate Assistant, and serves American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Oncology as the Secretary of the Hospice and Palliative Care Special Interest Group. She is also a co-author for the APTA Oncology’s new clinically focused publication, Oncology Rehabilitation in Practice. Clinically, Kristen takes special interest in treating neurologic, oncologic and geriatric populations.
